Death From Above

January 4th, 2010

I found this haunting photo on the internet a while back. It makes you wonder how we got this way.

The photo both shocked and amazed me. How can something this beautiful be so brutal at the same time.

LED building

November 26th, 2009

I thought this was quite a nice use of lighting - I suppose it’s for Underworld’s music video. Imagine stumbling past this after a big night out and seeing a big flashing building in front of you. You wouldn’t know what the hell was going on.

More Tiny People

November 4th, 2009

Still on the subject of tiny people. This uses Tilt-shift photography which is a post-production process used to create the appearance of miniature models in real footage. Keith Loutit uses this- alongside the time lapse technique to create the illusion of forward movement- to great effect here. Mesmerising. I’ve been watching it over and over from the last 10 minutes.

Tiny People

French photographer Vincent Bousserez creates Lilliputian-scaled contemporary art using plastic figures and household objects.

I love the way these look. Somehow putting human life in to a different context.

In Rainbows

September 30th, 2009

Radiohead just released a new video for its song “House of Cards” from the album “In Rainbows”.

No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes.

Odosketch

September 8th, 2009

Really cool flash drawing tool.  The awsome thing is that it remembers what you sketch so you can go back and see how people created their works of art. Check out some of the amazing drawings.
